It was no little white lie when I said my makeup collection is overflowing. Recently I have been making absurd excuses to make a trip to Walgreens. Oh a touch of a scratchy throat? Better head to the drugstore to pick up some cough medicine + some new foundation… you know, for preventative measures 😉 . I love sampling drugstore products because if they are horrid I feel way less guilty about trashing them or letting them accumulate until expiration (terrible habit). However, every now and then I find a real gem that completely replaces one of my Sephora go-tos. I have rounded up a few of my favs for you to pick up on your next trip!
My all-time favorite blush is Nars Orgasm. However, this blush by Milani is equally as stunning and nearly identical in hue (with just a pinch less sparkle). I find myself reaching for it on a daily basis! It comes in a petite compact featuring both a mirror and a brush. I will admit, the brush is not anything fancy and I apply with the Morphe B78 Angle Contour brush. However, the mirror is a lovely little perk! Nars Orgasm is notably a flattering pigment amongst all skin tones and I believe Luminoso is just that, too! It is pinkish-peach in color and guarantees a flawless flushed appearance. My next investment? Dolce Pink. It is only $8, so might as well buy it in every color… right? 😉
If you are victim to a few infamous designer bags under your eyes and do not want to drop a pretty penny on Tarte Shape Tape or Urban Decay Naked Skin, this concealer is perfect for you. It has a sponge applicator at the end and with a simple twist pigment is released, and voila! My problem with under-eye concealer is creasing in fine lines, but I do not have that problem with Maybelline Age Rewind. I use the color ‘fair’ and it matches perfectly with my skin tone, but if you are a little darker complected I recommend purchasing a few shades lighter because rumor has it this product also works as a perfect highlighter!
This primer + Covergirl Lashblast Fusion Mascara + NeuLash = your recipe for gorgeous lashes. Before applying your mascara, you swipe a quick coat of this primer. It adds a desirable touch of length + volume! I used to think primers of the sorts were a waste of money, but this product convinced me otherwise.
I always say I suffer from chronic dry lips (cringe). With that being said, matte lipsticks are generally a major no-no in my book. Thankfully, I can get away with this matte lip color with a bit of pampering beforehand. While it is a pinch drying, it is not at all in comparison to other matte pigments I have tried. Plus, I am obsessed with the color Embrace, a peachy hue. I also recommend using Aquaphor 30 minutes or so prior for optimal results!
I am without a doubt a full coverage girl when it comes to my foundation. I have too many freckles and blemishes I feel the need to keep secret, so complete coverage is necessary! This can be tricky to find in a drugstore product without being ‘buildable coverage.’ A.K.A. cakey coverage. The Loreal Infallible Total Coverage is the total package (+ it comes in my shade and most brands do not!). I apply a single coat of shade 301 with my beauty blender for a flawless face!
6 | Pixi Glow Tonic
If you choose to only purchase one of my favorite drugstore items, I pinky promise it should be the Pixi Glow Tonic. It exfoliates and tones for a beautiful, natural glow. I apply it very first thing in the morning (after using my Tula cleanser, of course) with a cotton pad. It might just be me, or maybe the scent, but I feel like it definitely helps wake me up! A perk for all those not-so morning people 😉 .
Thanks for stopping by,
