AH! This is such an exciting week for K and I because
we he will be moving into our very first home together. While K will be moving his goodies into the space, my furniture will not be making way until May and I will not officially move in until after the wedding! I will be sharing a little sneak peek on snapchat in two weeks (@kaitandko). Unfortunately, our home will be filled with a tiny twin bed and a big screen television for quite awhile… I cannot imagine how appreciative K will be of a couch and a nightstand after those lone 30 days!
While you can only imagine that our design + decor tastes are slightly different, K is not too fond of blush throw pillows and leopard print rugs. He more so loves a very modern, black and white, ‘cannot touch a single thing’ environment. This leaves us only one option: compromise on his + her decor. Needless to say, my current ‘golden chic’ decor I have in my current apartment does not quite suffice. Note: I will be sharing a tour prior to moving!
For example: desks. Originally, we had planned investing in a two-bedroom space dedicating one of the rooms as an office. K does lots of leisurely coding work and I would just adore a space to use solely for Kait & ko. I chose a piece like this desk and K chose this desk. Thankfully, we ended up choosing a space that has a built in desk off of the kitchen so that compromise was essentially handed to us 😉 . Things like this headboard will require a pinch more work! I view it as a piece that would be suit for Buckingham Palace, but K says we aren’t living in the 1900s anymore… ha!
While we are still obviously in the very beginning stages of making our soon-to-be house a home, I cannot help but pin night and day! I pinned the photo above and showed K thinking it would be a darling palette for our bedroom and his response was “it’s too home-y…” ha! We will get there little by little 😉 . Thus far, we have only completely 100% agreed on this piece of art. It combines equal parts black + white with my desire for a touch of feminine + chic. I will definitely begin sharing more details once we piece the puzzle together. In the meantime, I have found that Wayfair, Horchow, Joss & Main (my favorite… especially if you are pinching pennies), and One Kings Lane are sites that I continuously find myself favoriting, screenshotting, and sending to K.
Let me know if you have any packing + moving tips!
