Hello, fellow readers! I hope you don’t mind, but I’m taking over Kait’s blog today! Let me introduce myself… I am Kaitlyn’s number one fan, best friend, and Maid of Honor. I’ll answer to any of those titles or you may call me Moriah, hehe. Kaitlyn has asked me to give you all the details on her Bridal Shower! I had SO much fun planning the event and it turned out beautifully (in my humble opinion 😉 ).
Unlike most projects in my life, I can proudly say that I did not procrastinate the planning of Kaitlyn’s Shower! I think this would be my very first tip to any girl planning her bestie’s celebration; START NOW! Even if it seems SOOOO far away that it would be silly to plan right now, you are wrong. I am so happy I broke my streak of procrastination to get this party planned early. It not only saved me from stress but also Kait! I think knowing her bridesmaids had dotted their i’s and crossed all t’s well in advance would calm any busy bride’s nerves. My planning started with Pinterest of course!
I created a secret board to collect all things bridal shower from cupcake recipes to DIY décor to checklists. I also used my Pinterest board as a sort of “to do” list. When it was within 3 months of the shower, I streamlined the board to only necessary pins that I definitely wanted to incorporate and when I completed that item, I simply deleted the pin so I could declutter my idea board and mind! I have included the inside scoop to the three major components to a Bridal Shower: décor, favors, and (cup)cake!
1 | Decor
There was no specific theme to Kait’s shower. Rather, I opted for pretty pink florals to create the perfect setting for a picturesque brunch. The floral obsession started with the invitations I customized on Zazzle! This invite print screamed Kaitlyn and I couldn’t resist! I also included coordinating recipe cards for guests to fill out for the soon to be Mrs which I collected and gifted to Kaitlyn along with this darling recipe box, my gift to her 🙂 .
These gold frames are from dollar tree! Super affordable and decent quality so they can be repurposed after the shower! I created the signs using Microsoft Word on my computer! You can find pretty fonts to download on Pinterest! The canvases were the first décor item I completed and probably my favorite. I just typed up the message in very large font on my computer and used that to sketch the lettering in pencil. I then filled in my sketch with black and gold sharpie markers!
As you many of you may know, Kaitlyn is typically very quiet and shy, even with family and friends! Knowing this, I knew the perfect games would be the kind where she wouldn’t be the center of attention. I chose games that people could do on their own while munching on their brunch and wouldn’t require everyone circling around Kait and discussing the personal details of her life with K. These game ideas came from Pinterest Bridal Shower ideas! I recreated games I liked on Word and Paint and printed them on Cardstock at home! The prizes for the winners were yummy candles from Target!
These simple, floral centerpieces were the final touches to the tables! They were faux flowers in simple glass bowls from Micheals!
2 | Favors
When brainstorming ideas for the perfect party favor for guests, I turned to the obvious resource… Pinterest. There was a plethora of options but I decided on a DIY sugar scrub! I went with a favor that was simple, affordable, and something everyone could actually use. This was such an easy scrub to put together and I was able to check this off my list several weeks before the shower!
There isn’t an exact “recipe” I followed but I basically mixed sugar and coconut oil until it was the desired consistency of a typical body scrub. Then I added in red food coloring to get the perfect shade of pink! I also created labels for the jars on Windows Paint and printed them on sticker paper. Then, I used a circle punch and applied them to the lids of the jar. I think adding labels or even just a simple bow can add extra detail that will be a definite crowd pleaser!
3 | Cupcakes

Fun fact about Kaitlyn: she is not a cake fan. She’s more of a cupcake gal! So knowing that, the dessert choice was simple…vanilla cupcakes! When I told Kaitlyn that I was going to be making the cupcakes, I’m sure a disastrous kitchen scene flashed through her mind because I am no Martha Stewart. I have cereal for most of my meals but I was determined to make these cupcakes myself! While these cupcakes were not a part of anyone’s wedding diet, I believe everyone enjoyed them! I basically searched for a recipe that was a “doctored up” cake mix recipe.
When it came to the icing, I loosely followed this recipe and called my mom. She instructed me to keep it simple with powdered sugar and butter *monkey covering eyes emoji*. I started piping the icing using a store bought bag but then after some failed attempts, I resorted to spreading the icing with a knife. I topped off the delicious desserts with some pearl-like sprinkles I found at Micheal’s. The Mother of the Bride supplied the pretty cake stand which made the presentation 100% perfect.
Last but not least, we must give credit where an overwhelming bit is due: to the lovely Trisha. Trisha is the owner of Executive Hills Polo Club where we hosted Kait’s bridal shower and the most sincere hostess you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. She went above and beyond to ensure the event was flawless! If you are interested in hosting an event or spending your wedding day at Executive Hills Polo Club you may email them here!
