Confession time, ladies and gentlemen. Lately I have been in quite the funk. You know, when you just feel “bleh” and all motivation has gone to slush. Let me rephrase that. I adore my life. I just married the love of my life, spent a glorious week and a pinch more in Hawaii, and I’m beginning a new HUGE step in my career. What I mean is: I have been in a bit of funk with Kait & ko.
I do devotionals every single morning. My current piece of choice: The Confident Woman Devotional. Most recently the verse was from the Book of Isaish: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” 41:10. This really got my mind churning. It always amazes me how God’s words fit so perfectly in the puzzle of our lives no matter where we may be, both spiritually and physically.
With those words floating in the back of my mind, I asked myself “Why did I start Kait & ko.?” It is so simple to get caught up in numbers, popularity, and success that the rooted values are quickly overshadowed. As a blogger it is very easy to feel weak and lost if you fall victim to comparison. I started Kait & ko. as a way for little shy me to let my voice be heard, to share my passion for fashion, while documenting my little life memories along the way. Pinky promise… I will no longer forget that.
With my embarrassingly wishy-washy performance, I’m trying something a little new. I have been one in the past to write all my pieces on a whim. If inspiration struck then it showed. Otherwise, a quick statement of “this frilly outfit paired with these platform sandals are everything,” sufficed. I loved the spontaneity of it. Not knowing what I was to write about next week or even tomorrow for that matter. As a Type A persona, I’m truly blessed that such a trend has lasted this long. But as in fashion, trends only last so long.
This girl is craving some organization and I truly believe it will be the secret weapon to managing my so-called “funk.” Like they always say, better an ‘oops’ than a ‘what if.’ Bring on the editorial calendars, fruity colored highlighters, and time blocks, because Kait & ko. is back.
Have a perfect weekend,
