What better way to celebrate Wednesday than with a sale? That is what I call the most perfect kind of pick-me-up. Obviously, I am in serious need of a little perking based on my absence this past week or so! But I am back, and so is the Sephora VIB Spring Bonus. Simply, if you have splurged on $300+ of goodies from Sephora in the past year you will have access to 15% off all purchases both in stores and online (enter the code ‘VIBSPRING’ at checkout). This sale runs through Monday and it is the perfect time to stock up on your go-to products + try out all the products on your wish list. In preparation for the sale, I ordered this cosmetic organizer because I have nearly outgrown my beauty drawer… ha! I have been eyeing the CosmoCube, but this one seemed a little more practical for my college girl budget. Plus, the money I saved I can invest in a few more lippy sticks at the sale… right?!
I have rounded up a few of my favorite recent purchases! I hope you love them!
Let’s face it: the rose trend is here to stay. No worries though, I am not-so-secretly obsessed. Honestly though, what scent could be more feminine + flattering than roses? Its fresh and serves as a simple reminder to your love that you haven’t received a dozen roses in awhile 😉 . I am totally kidding, but with the abundance of rose-scented beauty products from face masks, face mists, cleansing gels, and perfumes it is no surprise Moroccanoil curated a line of “Fleur de Rose.” I have a routine when it comes to my shampoo + conditioner regimen. I have one single product that is a match made in heaven for my hair (more deats to come) and I use those bottles until they are empty. Then, I try a new product and rotate back and forth. That way, I can give my hair a little break from my go-to’s and still manage to try new products every few months!
Cue the Moroccanoil party of two: shampoo + conditioner. I have been a long time fan of the Moroccanoil Treatment and use it nearly every time I blow dry my hair because it manages to add a perfect pinch of smoothness and shine to my thin, fine hair without weighing it down. The shampoo + conditioner yielded the same results plus had such a lovely scent. If you are in dire need of anti-frizzing or just tid bit of moisture sans oil + greasiness, I recommend trying this shampoo and conditioner. It even comes in as an spring set which features the shampoo + conditioner, the ever-loved Moroccanoil treatment, and a body soufflé. After using these products for a little over two weeks I am thinking I am going to have to add a third slot into my shower rotation!
One of my girlfriends recommended I try a few of the ALTERNA hair care products, but I had been a little hesitant because some of their products are a little pricey! Nonetheless, when I was at Sephora a few weeks ago, not one but two of their products made their way home with me. The first of those is the Caviar Smoothing Hydra-Gelee which I applied after curling my hair. I used one-half pump and applied to only the ends because there is a very fine line between too little and too much product with my hair. The result? Smoothness and shine.
Being a gel product, it was a little sticky but definitely did not weigh down my hair. Both my curls + volume managed to stay all day. The outcome was similar to that of the Moroccanoil Treatment. While I do adore both, they are not products you would use within the same styling because they essentially do the same thing! One or the other will suffice, or alternate between the two like me! If you have thin or treated hair, I would recommend the Moroccanoil Treatment. If you have thicker and curly hair, I recommend the Cavair Smoothing Hydra-Gelee! Also, if you are a victim of the infamous baby hairs, rumor has it that this product is a miracle worker.
Thin hair ladies, listen up. I have been searching nonstop for a haircare product that would thicken my hair for my wedding day. Ugh, so silly, I know. Of course, I generally use a thickening shampoo + conditioner in combination with a thickening mousse, but I still wanted more. I have debated about investing in extensions, but I do not know if I am ready for that type of commitment neither financially or timewise. The second ALTERNA haircare product I splurged on was the Caviar Clinical Daily Root & Scalp Stimulator *insert praise hands here*. The Lord has answered this girl’s prayers. It claims to assist in achieving denser hair and boy does it deliver.
For best results you spritz it on your roots twice daily. I admit this is a pain in the booty especially for us ladies who prefer to go as long as possibly without washing our lovely locks (ahem… 7 days), but I pinky promise it is worth it. Do note: this is not a quick fix. This product stimulates the scalp to grow healthier and thicker hair. Personally, I have noticed hair growing in those little ‘bald’ spots in my hairline that you can only notice when my hair is in a pony + laying a certain way. You know what I am talking about 😉 . Think of it as NeuLash for your hair. Seriously.
You all know I am head over heels in love with dry shampoo. I used to wash my hair every. single. night. Since discovering dry shampoo I am never ever going back. Even though my hair does not get oily I just like the sense of cleanliness that results from using dry shampoo. Plus it adds a bit of texture to my thin, fine hair. My go-to is Batiste simply because it refreshes my hair + is at the perfect price point for as frequently as I am emptying bottles. However, the Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-Powder is quite the competition and an incredibly close runner-up. It is a three in one powder: equal parts dry shampoo, style extender, and volumizer.
With that being said, I use this powder on days two and three for perfect hair days simply because of the amount of volume it contributes to my hair. On days four and beyond I use Batiste. Don’t be fooled, the bottle is itty bitty but a little goes a long way. I purchased this in January and I am still going strong on my very first bottle! Also, the scent is faint so you do not have to worry about it overpowering your perfume like you may with other dry shampoos.
This moisturizer is a gem. Truly. I received it as a sample with one of my Sephora orders and ended up repurchasing it. I have very dry skin and get patches on my chin and around my nose, so I feel like I am constantly slapping on any and every moisturizer I lay my hands on! This moisturizer by GLAMGLOW keeps those not-so-attractive spots at bay. I had originally been using this lotion at bedtime because it is rather thick, but one of my girlfriends mentioned that she used it as a primer and that is when I fell in love. Seriously swooning over here.
It claims to be a “Matte Glow” which is contradicting. I am not a fan of the matte look on myself, I adore it on others, but me not so much. I definitely would not define this product as matte. However, it does have a few blurring properties which is why I think it looks so perfectly as a primer! My make-up applies so smoothly! Also, it smells like a yummy orange creamcicle and brings on some serious vibes of summertime. Sold.
Have a perfect day,
